The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the governing body for all the cricket matches across the globe that has international importance. They have been pioneers in managing the cricket structure. The players who play these wonderful sports also get acknowledged for their performance through the calendar year across all formats. ICC introduced the ICC awards in 2004 to recognize consistent performers over the entire 12 months. They are set to announce another set of awards next month.

ICC Awards 2021 Categories
According to the latest press release from ICC, the ICC awards 2021 will comprise 13 individual awards, followed by five team awards. These will be in both the men’s and women’s categories. Given below are the list of the 13 individual awards:

The Process
The first seven award categories will have nomination announcements on Dec 28,29,30, and 31st. A total of 4 individual players from each category will be shortlisted. The nominee will be decided by commentators, sports personalities, umpires, and other cricket dignitaries. After the nominee list is selected, the voting academy that comprises a broader pool of commentators and sports personalities, including the broadcasters, will give an individual ranking for the top three positions. They will also consider the fan’s votes from the digital channels.
The ICC associate categories will not see any nomination. Instead, the final result will be decided by the voting academy. The spirit of the year award will purely be decided by the ICC, while the umpire of the year award will be selected by the ICC elite panel of match referees. Talking about the 5 ICC teams of the year, it will be decided by an online pool by the voting academy. Each member will select their team with an individual captain.
