Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harmanpreet Kaur To Lead Team India’s Men’s And Women’s Squad In The Asian Games 2023. On Friday, July 14 BCCI Announced the team India’s men’s and women’s squad for the Asian Games 2023, which will take place from Sep 23 to Oct 8 in Hangzhou, China.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Ruturaj Gaikwad who is currently with the test squad in West Indies, will lead team India in the tournament. Yashasvi Jaiswal who was awarded man of the match on their dream debut in the ongoing India vs West Indies Test series also included in the squad. KKR middle-order explosive batter Rinku Singh has earned a spot in the Asian Games 2023 team. The cricket tournament will be played in a T20 format.
Senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Hardik Pandya will not be featured in the squad due to their preparations for the ODI World Cup 2023. Initially, it was reported that Shikhar Dhawan may lead India’s squad in the absence of senior players at the Asian Games. But it surprises many fans that his name is not even on the list.

This is the third occasion that cricket is included in the Asian games. The first time it was included was in 2010, in Guangzhou, and the second time was in 2014, in Incheon. India did not send their cricket team in the last two games.
India’s women’s team will lead by Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy.
