Argentine Into Copa America 2024 Quarterfinals After Defeating Chile 1-0. An 88th-minuteth minute goal by Lautaro Martinez against Chile has pushed Argentina into the quarterfinals at the Copa America 2024. Argentina is leading Group A with six points, ahead of Canada, Chile, and Peru.

It was a tough match between Argentina and Chile and would have gone into a scoreless draw if not for Lionel Messi’s deflected corner kick and Martinez being at the right place at the right time. Argentine center-back Cristian Romero said it was a tough match. He highlighted that in the Copa America all the teams play the same. Romero said Argentina played a good game and is still hungry to achieve.

Argentinian goal-keeper Emiliano Martinez said Chile was playing for its life. “We knew it was going to be difficult, but we deserved to win.” Lionel Scaloni, Argentine coach, acknowledged that the game wasn’t easy. He said the team won it at the moment it least expected it. Scaloni said Argentine kept on playing and attacking, and made all the effort to win.

Will Lionel Messi Take Break After Match Against Chile Copa America 2024?

Despite a right thigh problem Lionel Messi played against Chile. But during half time he had treatment. Messi said it was bothering him a little bit. “But I was able to finish the match. I hope it’s nothing serious,” he added. “It was hard for me to move freely, tomorrow we’ll see how I feel.”

The Argentine captain knew it would be a physical match. He said all games are physical and Chile is tough. Messi highlighted that they had a lot on the line but Argentina won and the team is into the quarterfinals.

Word is that he may take a break in the match against Peru on June 30.
