France To Face Spain In Men’s Football Final: Paris Olympics 2024. It will be the clash of soccer titans France versus Spain this Friday in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games men’s football final at Parc des Princes. France beat Egypt 3-1 in the extra time, with Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring twice.
Egypt took the lead in the 62nd minute with a goal by Mahmoud Saber but luck was with the hosts France as the game went into extra time. The French showed their frustrations to score, hitting the frame thrice with no goal, but then Mateta found the net in the 83rd minute. As luck might have it, Egypt had to play one man down as Omar Fayed was shown a red card.
With France and Spain set for a face-off on Friday, the Olympics witnessed a diminish in the dominance of Latin American countries in football. Five previous Olympic Games recorded Brazil, Argentina and Mexico taking the gold medal home. Spain was the only European team to have won the Olympics football in 1992.
France Has The Home Advantage
Last month, France and Spain played in the UEFA EURO 2024 semi-final, with the latter winning. This time around, France has the advantage of playing in their home ground and may even clinch the Olympic gold medal.
