Barcelona are apparently willing to trade Riqui Puig, a 22-year-old midfielder, provided an appealing offer is made to them for the player
It looks like Riqui Puig’s tenure at FC Barcelona is coming to an end, according to a report from the Spanish publication Fichajes. After failing to satisfy new manager Xavi Hernandez, the 22-year-old midfielder will be sold if an acceptable offer is made to the Barcelona club.

Riqui Puig has been with Barcelona since joining the club’s renowned academy La Masia in 2013, after joining from UFC Jabac Terrassa. Following that, he made rapid progress through the club’s junior system until being called up to the main squad in December of that year.

After developing under the guidance of Ernesto Valverde, Puig was given the opportunity to go even further during Quique Setien’s brief tenure as Barcelona manager. However, once Ronald Koeman took over as manager, the 22-year-development old’s game time came to a grinding end.
As a result of Puig’s limited appearances for Barcelona during the previous year, the Dutchman did not have high hopes for the teenager. The outcome of this speculation is that the Spanish midfielder might be on his way out of the Camp Nou, with numerous La Liga teams expressing an interest in signing him in the near future.

Puig had also been connected with a move to AS Roma in the recent past, but those rumors suggested that he was holding off to see what the future held for Ronald Koeman at the time of the speculation. After being fired by Barcelona, the Dutchman was replaced by Xavi Hernandez, who is now in command of the club’s first team.

Xavi, on the other hand, does not seem to be that thrilled with the 22-year-old midfielder, who has only made seven substitute appearances for the club, clocking up 135 minutes in the process. According to the rumor, Xavi has given his OK for Puig to be put up for sale. Barcelona, on the other hand, will only sell him if the offer from a potential bidder is sufficiently enticing to them.

Given recent events, it is unclear if any of the previously stated interested teams would start a formal effort to sign Puig in the near future. Assuming that’s the case, it’ll be intriguing to see whether their offer is compelling enough for Barcelona to consider selling the young midfielder and bringing in some much-needed cash to their coffers. For the time being, Puig’s future at Barcelona is very dubious, with little indication of a possible reversal in the near future.
