“Yes, ICC T20 world cup 2021 backup plan is ready, but at this stage, we haven’t activated those plans, because we are preparing to go ahead with the event in India as scheduled. We are working closely with the BCCI and different stakeholders of that event and that can be activated when the time is right”. Allardyce said while interacting with select media houses on Wednesday.

Allardice said that its immediate focus right now is the upcoming world test championship final, which is to be held from June 18 to June 22 between India and New Zealand. The ICC Men’s T20 world cup 2021 backup plan would be discussed after that mega final.
He said that still there is enough time leading to the ICC t20 world cup. The covid situation prevalent at that time would decide the fate of the tournament in India. But ICC feels that India would be able to handle this second covid wave. The health infrastructure is much better now. He feels that the vaccination drive currently in India can make things better in near future. He said that the ICC T2O World cup 2021 backup plan will be activated only when ICC feels the need. Till then, things would go as planned.

India is currently witnessing a Covid surge across the country. On Wednesday, India recorded over 1.25 lakh new cases, the highest in the history of India ever. This second Covid wave seems to expand exponentially. But given the improved health infrastructure and vaccination drive currently underway, the country should be able to weather this storm soon. ICC T20 world cup 2021 schedule should be discussed only when the situation becomes out of control. We hope that India is able to conduct IPL 2021 successfully which would give a big boost to the BCCI and ICC about the upcoming ICC T20 World cup 2021.
