Arshdeep Singh Among Nominees For ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer Of The Year: Forthcoming T20I Cricketer of the Year nominations have been revealed by the ICC for the year 2024; Arshdeep Singh makes that ever-growing list of nominees. The young left-arm pacer has been nominated along with Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Babar Azam (Pakistan), and Travis Head (Australia).
The list conspicuously misses the names of Indian stalwarts attached to Arshdeep’s recognition—Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumra. This pretty much makes the achievement shine for the Indian cricket landscape.
Arshdeep Singh: India’s Bowling Sensation
In 2024, Arshdeep has emerged as one of the very best for India and particularly outshone when it came to the ICC T20 World Cup, which in turn has breathed life into India’s title-winning campaign. Arshdeep concluded the tournament with 17 wickets from 8 innings, averaging a meagre 12.88, and an economy of 7.16.
Among such great performances was a match-winning 4/16 against England in the semi-final and his great abilities of death bowling in the final against South Africa. Throughout the year, he took 39 wickets in T20Is, with an average of 13.5 and an economy rate of 7.49. Thus being ranked among the very best in the game.

Fierce Contenders
The other nominees also bring strong credentials to the table:
Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe): Raza’s all-round performances have kept Zimbabwe competitive on the international stage. He scored 573 runs at an average of 31.83, with three half-centuries and a strike rate of 134. As well as taking 24 wickets in 21 matches, with just over a seven economy rate.
Babar Azam is one of the most trusted run-getters in Pakistan. He has an average of 738 runs in 20 matches and a strike rate of 133.21. He scored runs at an average of 46.12 and made himself worthy to become Pakistan’s asset. He could anchor innings while taking up the score during the death overs.
Travis Head (Australia): Adapted beautifully to the new role in the Australian T20 side. He amassed a total of 539 runs in 16 appearances at a strike rate of 145.67. Hard-hitting batting in the top order set up many of Australia’s wins.
Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah Not on the List
In 19 T20I matches in 2024, Hardik Pandya has scored over 350 runs at an incredible strike rate of 152 as Indian T20I captain and created big moments. All in all, he was India’s greatest all-rounder, even when he failed to live up to that reputation in a particular performance regarding the nominations, from batting to bowling.

Jasprit Bumrah looked to be making a comeback from injury by delivering five to six match-winning spells in the T20 World Cup, but on account of playing only 12 matches (12 T20Is) in 2024, it could have cost him a nomination.
Though the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award winner is awaited, this nomination for Arshdeep itself is indicative of this much of an impact he has already created and hints at the capability he holds as a future leader in Indian cricket. Fans are going to keep their fingers crossed to see whether India’s new find turns the tables and gets such a coveted award.
