The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to announce at the end of the week a timetable for the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy, which is to be held in Pakistan. It is the first time in almost thirty years that a global sporting event in cricket will be hosted in Pakistan, giving prominence to its attempts to restore international cricket home.
Champions Trophy 2025 Overview
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to start on February 19, 2025, and there will be eight teams playing in two groups. Group A consists of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B consists of England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan. The matches will be held in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The final will be played in Lahore. Karachi and Rawalpindi will host the semi-finals.
India’s participation in Champions Trophy 2025 question
A crucial challenge is the question of India’s participation due to political and diplomatic reasons. The Indian government is unwilling to send its team to Pakistan. Negotiations are underway with the ICC trying to mediate between BCCI and PCB. If the issue is not able to be settled, then a different host may be sought; however, PCB is adamant regarding hosting the event.

Building Momentum
As a way to create enthusiasm, the ICC kicked off a Trophy Tour around Pakistan thanks to the presence of some famous places, such as the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. The tour shows that the country is ready to stage the event as well as having all the necessary facilities. The contest promises to be an exhibition of cricketing skills despite the politics of the region putting up barriers.
