IND vs AUS, 3rd Test Day 2 Highlights: Travis Head and Steve Smith Shines: The second day of the third test match between India and Australia took place at The Gabba in Brisbane, and Australia, scored an impressive 405 runs in the first innings made possible by the brilliance of Travis Head and Steve Smith. Head rejoined Smith after the Australians resumed proceedings on 75/3. They have now shared a truly exceptional 241-run partnership that puts Australia with its nose well into the ground. Head smashed an authoritative 152 with runs streaming from the end. Smith found his groove and is 101 to open his account for the series.
India made a brief resurgence post-tea, with Jasprit Bumrah ripping apart the middle order. Bumrah finished with a brilliant five-wicket haul as he took out Marsh, Head, and Smith one after the other. But Alex Carey later stood firm with an unbeaten 45 runs to push Australia beyond 400 runs before the stumps fell. Bumrah’s efforts (5/97) were the highlight for India, but all other bowlers fell off the wagon, allowing the Australians all freedom in the day.
India’s Struggle and IND vs AUS Day 3 Outlook
With the other Indian bowlers falling short of Bumrah’s intensity, it allowed Australia to score runs at will. Though the pitch still provides assistance for both batters and bowlers, the next session becomes crucial for the match outcome. India will be required to do the heavy lifting while their batters will initiate their innings on Day 3.
