Punjab Kings (PBKS) will play their first match of IPL 2023 with Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This match will be played on April 1 in Mohali from 3.30 pm. PBKS team is placed in Group B along with Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Roya; Challengers Bangalore. Punjab Kings will play its last league match against Rajasthan Royals on May 19 at Dharamsala.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered in the IPL 2023 mini-auction with the second-largest purse of INR 32.2 crore as the team released 9 players, including captain Mayank Agarwal. In a mini-auction, PBKS buys English all-rounder and T20 WC 2022 Man of the series Sam Curran for a whooping record price of 18.5 Cr.
IPL 2023 was disappointing for Punjab Kings who are waiting for their first IPL title. Under the leadership of Mayank Agarwal, the team won 7 out of 14 matches and finished sixth. After this performance team management removed head coach Anil Kumble in September last year.
This season the Punjab Kings (PBKS) team will be seen playing under the guidance of new captain Shikhar Dhawan and new coach Trevor Bayliss.
