IPL 2025: KL Rahul Part Ways With Lucknow Super Giants: As per the reports, KL Rahul decided to leave Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of IPL 2025, the reason being his personal and professional commitments. Although LSG made offers to Rahul to remain with them as one of the franchise players, the latter decided not to extend his association with the team.
Rahul did well as captain of the side, making several runs and qualifying for the playoffs in the first two years. Unfortunately, there was a difficult season in the IPL for 2024, after, coupled with an injury that kept him outside the action during IPL 2023, raising concerns about his relevance in the team. In the aftermath of a critical defeat, an exchange of words between Rahul and team owner Sanjeev Goenka incited speculation on the fragile state of Rahul’s and the franchise’s relationship.
According to sources, Bengaluru, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Chennai are among the teams that have expressed an interest in signing Rahul for IPL 2025. All of these franchises could use his experience and captaincy. All these teams are likely to make strong offers for Rahul in the bidding war considering his ability to lead a team as a top-order batsman captain, which is his main selling point.

While LSG weighs other options for retention measures in the meantime before the October 31 deadline, the consideration of reorganizing their team and the possibility of bringing in a new captain will be on the table.
