Hardik Pandya Fined for slow over rate aganist Gujarat Titans

Hardik Pandya Fined ₹12 Lakh for Slow Over Rate During Match Between Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined ₹12 lakh for slow over-rate in the IPL 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans on March 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The penalty was imposed as per Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which concerns violations of minimum over-rate. For not maintaining the minimum over rate in this first offense against the slow over-rate rule of that season, the fine imposed was ₹12 lakh.

The match started with the Gujarat Titans setting up a target of 196-6 in their 20 overs. The Mumbai Indians had a lousy time with the bat and succumbed to a total of just 160 runs. Thus losing the match by 36 runs. For MI, this becomes consecutive losses in IPL 2025, putting them in ninth place in the points table.

Hardik Pandya Fined Again

The fine comes on the heels of Pandya being suspended for not being able to keep a reasonable over-rate in MI’s last match of IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants. This meant he missed MI’s opening match of the season against Chennai Super Kings. Stricter regulations have been put in place this season by the IPL governing council. It includes a demerit points system that retains records of offenses for 36 months.

Over-the-rate penalties have been something of a concern for the teams, trying to keep to the speed of play to escape fines. Should Mumbai Indians’ overrate offenses continue through the season. The fines could be stepped up, and Pandya could face a suspension from a match. Mumbai Indians would want to turn their fortunes around at the Wankhede Stadium when they meet the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 31. They will be hoping to get into a winning frame of mind and finally get off the mark this season.
