The season will commence on March 22, 2025. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders lock horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the illustrious Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The grand finale is scheduled for May 25, 2025, at the same venue.
Key Highlights from the IPL 2025 Schedule
The opening match: KKR vs. RCB on March 22, 2025, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
First Double-Header: On March 23, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs. Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad—first match of the day, and the CSK vs. MI match will be played in the evening at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Total Matches: The tournament will have a total of 74 matches spread over 65 days, culminating with the final on May 25.
Venues: 13 venues will host the matches, out of which 10 belong to the traditional home grounds. Additional points such as Guwahati (the second venue for RR), Dharamsala (the second venue for Punjab Kings), and Visakhapatnam (the second home for Delhi Capitals) will follow.
Playoffs: Eliminator and Qualifier 1 are slated for May 20 and 21 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Whereas Qualifier 2 and the Final will be played on May 23 and 25, 2025, respectively, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Captains Announced: The captains of eight out of the ten teams have so far been confirmed. Rajat Patidar will captain RCB, and Shreyas Iyer will be captaining Punjab Kings.
