ACC President Jay Shah Confirms The Launch Of Inaugural Women’s U19 Asia Cup: The inauguration of the first Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup has been announced by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah, who remarked this is a major boost for regional women’s cricket.

This tournament will be held every other year starting from December 2024, to provide an opportunity for upcoming female cricketers in Asia to present their skills on the world platform. This is also a part of the strategy of ACC to prepare teams for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will start on 18th January 2025.

The Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup will serve as an avenue for unearthing and nurturing young cricketers across Asia. The competition is set to experience input from some of the best young players in the region, thereby giving them much-needed international exposure and experience at higher levels of play.

Jay Shah underscored how crucial this tournament is in making women’s cricket more visible, especially at lower levels, and promoting gender parity within the sport itself. He termed it a “monumental achievement” for progressing towards better playing conditions regarding women’s cricket in Asian nations.

This goes well beyond just forming a system of advancement for junior girls’ players. In this way, it ensures continuity in the development of female cricket even beyond this current generation, thereby increasing Asia’s chance of becoming a world power in women’s cricket.

Made possible through the Women U19 T20 Asia Cup, all participating nations strive to get youngsters into cricket, thereby raising its profile and appeal within respective territories.
