All You Need To Know About T20 World Cup 2024: The 2024 T20 World Cup will be held in the United States and the West Indies. A major ICC tournament will be held on American land for the first time. The tournament will feature 20 teams, with England serving as defending champions after winning the last edition in 2022.
The ICC confirmed that the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup will be held in the West Indies and the United States from 4 June to 30 June. Cricket West Indies and USA Cricket filed a joint candidature as part of a strategic relationship between the two organizations.
The ICC stripped USA Cricket of its role as administrative co-host of the World Cup in October 2022. Citing continued non-compliance with the ICC’s financial protocols and concerns raised about USA Cricket’s financial position. That will include debts of approximately $650,000. This was not expected to influence the country’s match performance.

Format of T20 World Cup 2024
The top two teams from each group proceed to the Super 8 phase after the 20 qualifying teams are split up into four groups of five. The two top teams from each group of four qualifying teams will advance to the knockout round, which consists of two semi-final matches and a final.
T20 World Cup 2024: Teams And Qualification
Along with the two hosts, the West Indies and the United States, the top eight teams from the 2022 competition automatically qualified for the competition.
The top-ranked teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as on November 14, 2022. Teams who had not previously clinched a spot in the finals took the remaining automatic qualification spots.
The two highest-ranked unqualified teams from the ICC rankings advanced to the 2024 tournament because the United States and West Indies did not place in the top eight of the 2022 competition. If either host had finished in the top eight, their spot would have been given to the next-best-ranked unqualified teams as required.
The top two teams from each of the following three continents—Africa, Asia, and Europe—along with one team from each of the Americas and East Asia-Pacific groups—will compete for the remaining eight spots in the ICC’s regional qualifiers. The ICC officially announced the sub-regional qualification procedures for Europe, East Asia-Pacific, and Africa in May 2022.
Australia, India, England, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, West Indies, New Zealand, America, Ireland, Papua New Guinea & Netherlands have qualify so far for the T20 World Cup 2024.
