Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan Crushed Nepal By 238 Runs In The Opening Match Of The Tournament. The Asia Cup 2023 began on August 30th with a match between ICC No 1 ODI team Pakistan and debutant Nepal. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat in the Asia Cup opener against Nepal on Wednesday. However, it was evident that Pakistan would win this game, but Nepal’s young brigade surrendered easily and they lost the game by 238 runs.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel called it a “historic moment” for his country to fight against cricket’s giants. Nepal qualified for the Asia Cup after defeating the United Arab Emirates in the qualification final.
Pakistan led the International Cricket Council’s One-Day International (ODI) standings after a 3-0 series win against Afghanistan. Pakistan’s playing XI was loaded with frontline players, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, who formed a dangerous speed assault.
Pakistan scored 342/6 with the help of skipper Babar Azam’s record 151 and Iftikhar Ahmed’s 109*. Nepal manage to score only 104 runs. Shadab Khan took 4 wickets while Shaheen and Haris Rauf took 2 wickets each.
Both teams will play their 2nd group-stage match against India. The much awaited game between India vs Pakistan will be played on Sep 2 while Nepal will face India on 4 Sep.
