PCB offered a hybrid model for India in response, which appears to have been rejected in the most recent development. Last week, ACC announced that Sri Lanka would host the Asia Cup, but more changes are on the way.
England May Host Asia Cup 2023
Najam Sethi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has presented an intriguing solution regarding the Asia Cup venue controversy. According to Sethi, the Asia Cup 2023 should be staged in the United Kingdom. Sethi also stated that as the host, Pakistan has the option of deciding where the event will be held.
Najam Sethi, Chairman of the PCB, has indicated that the final choice on the Asia Cup hosting location will be made within two weeks. With Bangladesh and Sri Lanka allegedly opposing the hybrid concept presented by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the competition appears to be in dire jeopardy.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi told The News “Nothing has been resolved yet. Within the next two weeks, a decision will be taken about Asia Cup cricket”.
Sethi has been flying to the UAE in an attempt to persuade the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Sri Lanka has also surfaced as a prospective Asia Cup host country, although it is said that the PCB is unwilling to abandon its hybrid approach.
At the same time, details about the 2023 ODI World Cup in India are becoming known. The headline match between India and Pakistan is set on October 15 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The finalists of the 2019 World Cup, England and New Zealand, are expected to meet in the opening game of the major tournament.
