This Asia Cup has seen the most dramatic series of incidents in its history. The 16th edition of this famous tournament was initially scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, but owing to the BCCI’s denial and multiple meetings, a hybrid format was finalized.
This implies that the Asia Cup will be hosted by two countries this time, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with four matches taking place in Pakistan and the other nine in Sri Lanka. The tournament will begin in Multan with Pakistan taking on Nepal, while the final will be held in Colombo on September 17. As is customary, the attention will be on the tense clashes between India and Pakistan. In Kandy, the two arch-rivals would face twice, once in the group stage which is scheduled to take place on September 2 and once in the super four round.
Regardless of where they finish in the first round, Pakistan and India will stay in places A1 and A2 in the Super 4 round. While Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be in positions B1 and B2, respectively. If Nepal and Afghanistan reach the Super Four stage, they will replace the eliminated team.
