Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s: India Register Their Highest ODI Total Against Pakistan With The Help Of Virat Kohli & KL Rahul Century: India scored the highest ODI total against arch-rival Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s match at Colombo. The rain disrupted another India vs. Pakistan thriller as the men in blue dominated the Pakistan pacers on Sunday.
The match was interrupted when Pakistan bowlers were trying to make a comeback against Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. After several rounds of pitch inspection and efforts by the ground staff, rain returned and the match was called off for the day.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul both started the first reserve day of the Asia Cup 2023 in the middle and displayed their class. Kohli scored his 47th ODI century, finishing with 122 runs off 94 balls, while KL Rahul stayed undefeated with 111 runs off 106 balls. The pair’s partnership was undefeated at 233 off 194 balls.

Kohli became the quickest player in ODI history to reach 13,000 runs. While KL demonstrated his importance to India’s cause in ODI cricket by making a century on his comeback from injury, Earlier on Sunday, Shubman Gill raced to his second consecutive ODI half-century as he and skipper Rohit Sharma crushed Pakistan’s dangerous pace attack for most of the first 20 overs.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited the men in blue to bat first. Their opening partnership reached 100 in just 14 overs. Gill scored a half-century in 37 balls, while Rohit got there soon thereafter with a six, reaching his milestone in 42 balls. Pakistan eventually came back strong, with Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi dismissing Rohit and Gill, respectively, in consecutive matches.
It embraced Kohli and Rahul, with the latter taking the place of the injured Shreyas Iyer at No. 4. The duo were on 24 off 38 balls for the third wicket when severe rain arrived and forced the players off the pitch. Rain was always in the forecast for the day, and while it was bright for much of it, once it started pouring, it never stopped.
The Indian team has made two changes to their playing XI against the Pakistan. An injured Shreyas Iyer has been replaced by KL Rahul, while Jasprit Bumrah takes his place back in the Indian side.
