Bangladesh Lose Key Opener For First Test vs Pakistan: A significant setback has been dealt to Bangladesh ahead of their two-match Test series against Pakistan, as opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy might not be available for the first test due to a groin injury. The 23-year-old had a Grade 1 adductor strain while playing for Bangladesh A during a recent four-day match against Pakistan A. Despite of scoring 65 runs in that game, Joy will miss the opening match, which starts on August 21, 2024, in Rawalpindi.

injury of Joy presents a dilemma for the Bangladesh Cricket Team, who need a good start in the ICC World Test Championship series. The team management will therefore need to reassess their batting order for the first Test with Joy sidelined. In addition, Joy’s absence may also affect Bangladesh’s prospects of gaining points in important matches, thus putting them in eighth place in the ongoing World Test Championship competition. The team hopes to have him fit for the second test in Rawalpindi on August 30, 2024.
