BCCI Delivers Strong Message to ICC Over PCB’s Neutral Venue Demand: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has directly turned down the claim of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding playing matches at neutral venues for the upcoming ICC events in India. The BCCI submitted this given situation to the ICC. It states that there is no security threat to India and there can be no justification for Pakistan to make such requests because now it needs to host its matches in some foreign territory.
This comes before any talks take place surrounding the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which is to be hosted by Pakistan. Actually, it was due to political tensions that BCCI denied going to Pakistan. This gave rise to the hybrid model to resolve the conflict. According to it India would play all its matches in a neutral location. In return, PCB proposes all future ICC events in India should also allow all scheduled matches for Pakistan at neutral venues, something that BCCI has rejected.
BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla stated that the board would move in consonance with the directives of the government of India. Thereby sounding the trumpets about security and fairness. This attitude indicates the growing rift between the two cricket boards. The ICC now playing mediator to ensure that events do not spoil the backdrop of its tournaments.
