BCCI Refused To Inscript ‘Pakistan’ on Team India’s Jerseys, Sparks Controversy: The BCCI has refused to allow the word ‘Pakistan’ on the jersey of the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It was said that the issue has triggered severity in the Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB blammed that the BCCI is supposed to be intertwining politics into sports.
The Champions Trophy 2025 will have a mixed-mode structure. Where India would play its matches entirely in Dubai, and Pakistan would be the actual host for the tournament. It would be remembered that earlier, the BCCI had refused to send members to Pakistan on account of the poor security situation. That had cropped up to force this arrangement.
A leading PCB official said under the condition of anonymity: “BCCI has been trying to do politics in cricket. So ultimately, I can’t say it’s good for this game. You did not want to go to Pakistan. They didn’t want to make their captain attend the opening ceremony. Then there was a report that they don’t want the host nation name (Pakistan) on their jerseys.”

The PCB appealed to the ICC to take its initiative and oblige to have the host country name on the jerseys of all teams, including that of India.
This news augurs in a crack between the two cricket boards when the whole of India will not have a squad going to Pakistan-Lahore, then be waiting to see how the ICC reacts to these stormy developments as the reigning Champions Trophy gets closer.
