BCCI To Announce The Squad For Asian Games 2023 Before 15 July: The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) supreme council has confirmed India’s men’s and women’s teams’ participation in the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou in September-October. Previously, the board declined to send players to the major tournament, but it appears the decision has been reversed following the Apex Council meeting in Mumbai.
Notably, the Asian Games 2023 start on September 23 and coincide with the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Meanwhile, the squad must be announced before July 15.
The board stated through effective planning, communication, and coordination, the BCCI hopes to successfully navigate those challenges and contribute to the national cause by fielding a team in both men’s and women’s categories at the directions of the Government of India
According to sources, both the Indian men’s and women’s teams will compete in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain India’s women’s squad in the Asian Games. The Men’s team squad and captains have yet to be announced, and it is tough to forecast considering the amount of players competing for a slot.

BCCI Accepted the Deadline Of 15 July Finalizing Squads
Since the ODI World Cup coincides with the multi-sport event, the Board is anticipated to send a second-string men’s squad, while a full-strength women’s team will compete.
The list of players will be submitted to the Olympic Council of Asia by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by July 15. Shikhar Dhawan will captain the squad in the Asian Games. Apart from Gaikwad, Jitesh, and Rinku, the Asian Games will also include Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar, and Tilak Verma.
With Rahul Dravid preoccupied with the World Cup, National Cricket Academy president VVS Laxman is expected to coach the Indian squad in the Asian Games. Laxman has already filled in for Dravid on several occasions when two teams competed in different competitions at the same time.
This will not be India’s first time fielding two national teams at the same time. One Indian squad competed in the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, while another faced Pakistan in the Sahara Cup. In 2021, India fielded two teams, one with Shikhar Dhawan leading the second-string squad against Sri Lanka and another with Virat Kohli leading the Test series in London.
