Ben Stokes to Miss Upcoming Test Series Against Sri Lanka Due to Injury: Ben Stokes, who captains England’s Test team, will probably miss Sri Lanka’s next three-match Test series following a severe hamstring injury sustained during this year’s edition of The Hundred tournament. While playing for the Northern Superchargers against the Manchester Originals, he injured himself trying to catch a fast single run. That will cast a big shadow on his participation in this series, starting August 21 at Old Trafford.
This will be an important series for both England and Sri Lanka as they jostle for crucial points in the ICC World Test Championship standings. England, fresh from a convincing 3-0 victory over the West Indies, will be looking to carry on their winning ways, although they might have to do so without their inspirational leader. Sri Lanka is known for their spinning, and that is going to be a big challenge, more so in conditions that would suit them quite well.

Stokes’ later appearance on crutches is a considerable concern about his injury. He is heading for a scan to assess the damage done, but there are already unsubstantiated claims he may miss the series. In the event of Stokes’ absence, his deputy, Ollie Pope, would be expected to assume captaincy responsibilities.
The news has also disrupted England’s preparation for the series, in which balance and depth have to be made. With a serious injury to one of its key members, more efforts have to be made after building on a recent 3-0 win against the West Indies, on route to making it into the ICC World Test Championship final.
