Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: Record Number of Indian Fans Travelled to Australia: Cricket Australia has confirmed that a record number of Indian cricket fans traveled to Australia for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Thereby adding more strength to the deep cricketing ties between the two nations. The five-match Test series attracted remarkable overseas ticket sales, particularly from India. Showing what is perceived to be one of the most booming summers in the history of Australian cricket.
Record Fan Turnout and Viewership in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
In total, close to 10,000 Indian fans come from various regions of Asia, North America, and Europe to support the Men in Blue. Compared to the 2018-19 series, overseas ticket sales grew by a staggering 500%. The demand for corporate hospitality also soared by 40%. A good proportion of this out-of-the-park demand from the Indian fans.
All in all, this treatment created several records. The Boxing Day Test played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) recorded a massive attendance across five days. Smashing a record that had been secured since 1937. Also, according to the viewing figures, around 200 million tuned in to the JioStar network in India. Thereby, marking a huge rise of 74% from the last series. Thus, it was the second most-watched away Test series for India, a rather immodest popularity amongst these two cricketing titans.
India to Return for White-Ball Series in 2025
After the premier Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian team will return to Australia in October and November 2025 for a limited-overs series. It will be featuring five Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals. Thus promising yet another crackling cricketing affair.

The white-ball series in Australia would be important preparation for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
