Champions Trophy 2025: PCB Issues Firm Warning To ICC And BCCI, No Hybrid Model: The excitement for the Champions Trophy 2025 is already building, even though the tournament won’t occur until next year. Currently, the spotlight is on Team India, which is reluctant to travel to the host, Pakistan. The long-standing tensions between the two countries have prevented India from participating in a bilateral series with Pakistan.

They meet each other only in the ICC competitions, and the last time they encountered was in the T20 World Cup 2024. With a firm stand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent a harsh statement to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about Team India’s participation in the Champions Trophy.

PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi took a strong position against BCCI play at next year’s ICC Champion Trophy, which was conveyed during this year’s ICC conference in Colombo. The main topic of conversation during the meeting was this issue. Reports indicated that BCCI might propose a hybrid model for the tournament due to their resistance to cross-border travel amid the escalating conflict. Nevertheless, Naqvi was firm in his stance and demanded that the ICC ensure the presence of Team India in Pakistan.

PCB Insists on Hosting Champions Trophy, Urges ICC to Ensure India’s Participation

“PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has firmly stated to the ICC that Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy 2025 without a hybrid model. According to reports, he emphasized that it is the ICC’s responsibility, not the PCB’s, to ensure India’s participation in the event in Pakistan.”

India last visited Pakistan in 2008, and it was the time when MS Dhoni was in charge when the Men in Blue played in the Asia Cup. In 2023, India declined to participate in the tournament which prompted ACC to carry out a hybrid model. In this way, Sri Lanka hosted India’s matches. They also hosted the final, where the Rohit Sharma-led team won the title.

The Indian board, for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, would probably ask for instructions from the government about the possibility of going to Pakistan. The situation remains unclear, as the PCB firmly opposes any sort of concession. The result is still in the air; both retain their original ideas.
