Daren Sammy Named Head Coach Of West Indies In All Formats From April 2025: Cricket West Indies (CWI) appointed former captain Daren Sammy as head coach of the West Indies men’s cricket team in all formats. With effect from 1st April 2025, he would be the coach of the Test, T20, and ODI formats of West Indies.
Sammy is a two-time ICC T20 World Cup-winning captain. He is expected to bring with him into the coaching role an in-depth understanding of the game and well-trimmed leadership credentials. Most importantly, it is proof of CWI’s stated mission to refresh and still a winning culture in the national team.

Daren Sammy has coached in some of the biggest leagues. It includes the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sammy has been used to coaching star-studded teams under pressure. On Sammy’s appointment, he said, “It’s an honor and a challenge that I am excited to take on. West Indies cricket has immense talent. I believe we can achieve consistency and success with the right mindset”.
