Delhi Capitals (DC) Likely To Release Manish Pandey And Sarfaraz Khan Ahead of IPL 2024 Auction. The IPL 2024 auction is approaching in a few weeks, scheduled for December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, marking its inaugural occurrence outside India. Before the significant event, all ten franchises must submit their lists of retained players by November 26. As a result, franchises are actively shaping their squads for the upcoming season, engaging in player trades with each other.
Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Delhi Capitals have reportedly opted to part company with Indian batsmen Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey. The franchise is set to prioritise the acquisition of new talent to enhance the team’s strength for the upcoming season.
Despite exhibiting Bradmanesque form in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz has struggled to make a significant impact in the IPL, managing just 53 runs from four matches at an average of 13.25. Across 50 IPL matches, the 26-year-old has accumulated 585 runs at an average of 22.50 and a strike rate of 130.58, with one fifty. In contrast, Manish Pandey tallied 160 runs from ten matches at an average of 17.78. Notably, he was the first Indian to achieve a century in the IPL and boasts a career total of 3808 runs from 170 matches, averaging 29.07 with one century and 22 fifties.
A journalist from The Times of India used X (formerly Twitter) to break the news of Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey’s exit from the Capitals’ squad. This decision suggests a strategic manoeuvre by the franchise, potentially aimed at securing fresh talent in the upcoming auction.
