Delhi Capitals Pursuing Shreyas Iyer for Captaincy in IPL 2025: The IPL 2025 mega auction has created a buzz in the media, mostly owing to the subject of Shreyas Iyer. Along with IPL aspiring teams, his emergence has raised the hopes of the former franchise where he played for Delhi Capitals. Having been ousted by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after winning the IPL trophy the previous season, Iyer’s short stint with KKR has created a great buzz among several franchises about his availability.
Fans will support the idea of Shreyas Iyer’s return given his previous attachment to DC. He made his IPL debut for Delhi in 2015 and then went on to captain the franchise, including taking them to an IPL final for the first time in history in 2020. After having decided not to retain the services of their previous captain, Rishabh Pant, DC is eager to convince Iyer to return for the balance factor and leadership in the middle order.
However, one of the latest reports suggests that DC’s ownership group will have Iyer back. They will also thwart any team attempting to use him against them. The franchise considers him an ideal candidate to help strengthen its foundation and bring the team the desired results.

Adding captaincy experience alongside batting depth after Shikhar Dhawan’s departure is the reason why the big-spending PBKS considers Iyer a must-buy. Iyer is seen as an answer to their middle-order issues of RCB considering they have let go of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell.
