Dream11 Will Sponsor Team India Jersey, Replaced Byju’s. Dream 11, a popular Indian fantasy gaming platform got the rights to become Team India’s Jersey sponsor. This comes after BCCI released a tender on the same on 14th June. For the next four years (till 2027), Dream XI will replace ed-tech business giant Byju’s, which was the main sponsor of India’s jersey from 2019 until March of this year.
After Byju’s contract with BCCI ended in March 2023, Team India was without a sponsor for its uniform, and they even played the World Test Championship final at the London Oval without one. Previously, Dream11 was the IPL 2020 sponsor when ViVO, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer stepped out due to public outcry against Chinese firms.
On June 14th, The BCCI also stated that companies which are prohibited from bidding for sponsorhip rights are Athleisure and Sportswear Manufacturer, Cryptocurrency, Alcohol Products, Betting, Real Money Gaming Areas (Except Fantasy Sports Gaming), Tobacco and those which is likely to upset public ethics.
As per Times of India, during Byju’s sponsorship, BCCI was getting INR 5.5 crore for every single bilateral game and INR 1.7 crore for every ICC match. However, it I speculated that the new agreement is expected to pay BCCI less than the previous one. At the same time, Adidas, the sports apparel giant, is the new kit sponsor of Team India. BCCI announced this 250-crore deal with Adidas back in May 2023.
India will most likely use their new uniforms in the next away series against the West Indies, which begins on July 12.
