Dricus du Plessis defended his middleweight title at UFC 305 Perth, defeating Israel Adesanya in a sensational bout that left fans in awe. It was grueling content, unlike any other, as he and Adesanya laid punches and kicks on each other.

The South African was losing but emerged dominant in the fourth round as he roared back to life and landed some huge blows on Adesanya, 35, turning the bout around. Du Plessis, 30, then floored the New Zealander, rolled him over and put him in a rear naked choke. Israel tapped out seconds later.

The UFC middleweight champion managed to turn around a fight that was not going in his favor. Adesanya said he lost because of a stupid, dumb mistake on the ground. He intended to emerge as the second fighter, after Randy Couture, to win three separate reigns with a UFC belt.

But Du Plessis was all praises for his opponent. He said Adesanya is the king of getting back up. The South African fighter described the Nigerian-born fighter as a 100 percent hall of fame, saying he has done a lot for the sport.

Adesanya acknowledged that felt he could defeat Plessis as he could resist his takedowns, but then he made a mistake on the ground which the South African took advantage of.

The rhetoric coming from both fighters leading up to UFC 305 was that they hated each other’s guts. And spectators at the match witnessed fever-pitch tension sizzle between Du Plessis and Adesanya in the cage. He continues with his unbeaten streak. It’s to be seen how long he will remain undefeated.
