ENG vs AUS: Harry Brook To Captain England ODI Team In The Absence Of Jos Buttler: In the first ODI series against Australia, Harry Brook is set to captain on behalf of England. Jos Buttler, who has had a chronic calf injury, was forced out, and now Brook takes over at age 25. Buttler has been out since June; hence, he missed the entire T20 series against Australia and will also miss the five-match ODI series.
Although Brook is still young in his career, being appointed as captain is quite a big deal for him because he has been identified as a future captain of England. His 15 ODI caps show that England has faith in his leadership abilities, although he lacks experience in this format. This means that Brook will lead the national team at the senior level for the first time during this series, which starts at Trent Bridge on September 19.

During England’s 1-1 T20 series draw against Australia last year, Brook was rested, but he will now return to the squad for ODIs. Other key players, such as Liam Livingstone, are also returning to join him in these matches.
In line with this trend of rotating captains across various formats this summer by England, Ollie Pope had served as Test captain while Phil Salt took charge of the T20 team before Buttler’s absence.
