Host, Venues, India’s Participation And All You Need To Know About ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Since the bilateral series between India vs Pakistan in December 2012 and January 2013, the two cricketing nations have only faced each other in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup. The possibility of Team India taking part in the ICC Champions Trophy next year in Pakistan hinges on a condition set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of BCCI, clarified that Team India’s participation in Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in February-March 2025 is subject to permission from the Indian government. Amid the assumption about India’s hesitation to travel to Pakistan for the tournament, Shukla highlighted that the BCCI follows the orders of the Indian government regarding international fixtures.
In response to the issue Shukla informed ANI, “For the Champion Trophy, we will stick to the instructions of the Government of India. We only send our team when we receive permission from the Government of India. Therefore, we will act according to the decision of the Indian government.”

The strained relations between India and Pakistan have restricted cricket matches between the two countries on Pakistani soil since the 2008 Asia Cup. It’s worth noting that India’s matches including those against Pakistan during the Asia Cup last year were rescheduled to Sri Lanka due to logistical and security circumstances.
India’s Matches All Scheduled In Lahore for ICC Champions Trophy 2025?
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected Lahore as the primary venue for India’s matches during the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB has strategically set Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi as host cities for the two-week tournament, with Lahore also selected to host the final match.
This decision aims to simplify logistical and security arrangements and provides Indian fans with a more accessible location given Lahore’s closeness to the Wagah border crossing. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed sending a draft schedule to the ICC for discussion among the participating members highlighting the important issue of Team India’s potential participation.
However, Jay Shah recognized the difficulty of finding an alternative window or venue for the World Test Championship (WTC) final in June. Sah mentioned that the BCCI has discussed with the ICC the possibility of selecting new venues. The first two finals took place in England, resulting in India’s loss. The third WTC final is also scheduled to occur in England in June 2025. “We have talked to the ICC about it,” Shah stated. “They will think about changing the location.”
