ICC Announces Jasprit Bumrah as Men’s Player of the Month for June. Bumrah edged out compatriots Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the award in a highly competitive month of cricket, culminating in India’s T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados.
Proving Ground for his expertise and consistency in the USA and the Caribbean his 30-year-old bowlers took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an amazing economy rate of 4.17. He and Virat Kohli (a two-time winner in his own right) became the second Indian players to present the Men’s T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament award.
Starting a T20 World Cup event in New York, Jasprit Bumrah was a constant for India. He commenced beautifully with 3/6 against Ireland, beginning his campaign subtly, and consolidated his lead by 3/14 against Pakistan just four days later which resulted in a match-defining performance.

Though wicketless in the USA encounter, Jasprit Bumrah again displayed his excellence in the Super Eights category of the tournament by getting six wickets in three matches. This time, the right-arm-fast bowler got his first international wicket in 2016 in the match against Zimbabwe. In addition to that, Bumrah’s 2/12 in the semi-final win over England marked the beginning of a victory march for India. Later, he finished with figures of 2/18 against South Africa in the final in Barbados.
Upon receiving the award, Jasprit Bumrah expressed his gratitude to his family and acknowledged the other two nominees.
