ICC Announces T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule, India vs Pakistan On June 9, Final In Barbados. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announces the 2024 T20 World Cup schedule at 7 pm Indian Standard Time on Friday. This time around, the tournament will feature a new setup, including 20 teams instead of the previous 16. The West Indies and the USA are automatically included as hosts for the event.
Additionally, based on their performance in the 2022 tournament and their ICC T20I rankings as of November 14. Another 10 teams secured their spots. Specifically, the top four teams from both Super 12 groups in Australia’s last T20 World Cup qualified for this year’s event. Apart from them, Afghanistan and Bangladesh also made the cut based on their rankings before the November 14 deadline.
In the revamped format, the T20 World Cup shifted from having a single global qualifier to focusing more on regional qualification tournaments. Specifically, Africa, Asia and Europe each received two qualification spots, while the Americas and East-Asia Pacific regions got one spot each. Teams like Ireland, Canada, Namibia, Scotland, Oman, Papua New Guinea. Uganda and Nepal have successfully qualified for the 2024 tournament through these regional routes.

Previously, up until 2022, the T20 World Cup followed a format where associate and lower-ranked countries had a qualification stage. After that, there was a Super 12 stage, leading to knockout matches. However, in the new format for 2024, there will be two group stages involving all 20 participating teams, followed by the semi-finals.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Group Details
Group A includes India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA, while Group B features England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman. England’s matches are scheduled to take place in Antigua, Barbados, and St Lucia. Group C of the tournament comprises the West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. Meanwhile, Group D will showcase South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Nepal.

Group A will host all its matches in the USA, including a highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan at Eisenhower Park, which is located 30 miles east of Manhattan, on June 9. In contrast, Group B will hold all its matches in the Caribbean. Advancing to the Super Eight stage, the top two teams from each group will follow a draw based on pre-tournament seedings, irrespective of their finishing positions in the initial groups.
