Eight years into the ICC Champions Trophy’s existence, the champion has been crowned among the top eight teams to have earned a place in this prestigious event.
The event will occur between February 19 and March 9, 2025, culminating in almost two months of preparations. But expect monumental cricket in a tighter but shorter fashion, starting from ball one and throughout the tournament.

Champions Trophy 2025 Format at a Glance
The Champions Trophy 2025 will use the classic three-staged group format. This format for one-day competitions has been used in prior editions as well.
1. Group Stage: Eight teams divided into two groups of four. Each team plays with each other in its group once. A win will earn 2 points, while a tie or no result brings in 1 point for each team, with no points awarded to the loser. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams from each group make their way into the semi-finals.
Group A: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh
Group B: Australia, England, South Africa, Afghanistan

2. Semi-finals (Knockout Stage): The winner of Group A will face the runners-up of Group B in the first semi-final, and Group B’s winner will take on the runner-up from Group A in the second semi-final. If these matches end in a tie or a washout, the teams will be ranked according to their finish in group play.
3. Final: The now two semi-final winning teams meet to play at the grandest stage. In case of a tie or abandonment because of rain, the trophy will be shared between the two teams.
