Injury news regarding Jasprit Bumrah ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. Harshit Rana was appointed in place of him by the BCCI. 23-year-old Rana made an impression by playing for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. He made his international debut in the Test series against Australia in November 2024. He has appeared for India in T20I and ODI international matches thereafter.
Replacement of Jaiswal
In a strategic move, the selection committee changed the team and included Varun Chakravarthy in place of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chakravarthy finds himself in good stead having been a match-winner with his “mystery” spin for KKR in the IPL. He made his T20I debut for India in July 2021 and recently earned his ODI cap in the ODI series against England in February 2025, earning the nod as part of balancing the spinners for the trophy.
