ICC WTC 2023-2025 Standings Updated (India On Top) After South Africa vs West Indies 2nd Test: As a consequence of South Africa’s nail-biting 40-run victory over the West Indies in the second Test match at Providence Stadium, Guyana, the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025 table has been updated, reflecting the effects of this close encounter. This second test was characterized by breathtaking bowling from both teams. South Africa won the series 1-0, as the 1st match was a draw and, won the 2nd match due to the poor batting performance of the West Indies.

After winning the toss, South Africa chose to bat first but was bowled out for 160 runs in their first inning, with Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales leading the West Indies bowlers. Joseph played particularly well and took 5 wickets, showing off his developing talent in Test matches. For the West Indies, however, their first inning saw them manage to come close to the score with an eventual total of 144 runs that were led by Jason Holder’s gritty half century.


On the other hand, South Africa performed much better during their second inning, making 246 runs with Kyle Verreynne making 59 runs for that inning. But again, it was Jayden Seales who shone for the West Indies, taking six wickets and keeping them in contention throughout.

In their chase of 263 runs, the West Indies faced tough times against the disciplined South African bowlers. South Africa gained a hard-fought victory as the West Indies were all out for 222 despite of G. Motie’s brave effort of 45. To seal this important victory for South Africa, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj took three wickets each.

However, this win has pushed South Africa upwards on the WTC standings; nevertheless, they still need to put in more effort if they want to emerge as champions at the end of the tournament. South Africa currently stands at the 5th position with 38.89% points. West Indies, on the other hand, are remaining at the bottom of the standings with 18.52% and only one win so far in this WTC cycle. India stands on top with 68.51% in the updated WTC points table.
