ICC WTC Points Table 2023-25 Updated: India Lose No. 1 Spot After Humiliating Defeat To South Africa At Centurion. South Africa started their World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 campaign on a winning note. Temba Bavuma led the South African team to crush the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team by an innings and 32 runs at Centurion. It was a disappointing show from men in blue from both bat and ball.
India was in the No.1 position in the WTC 2023-25 points table before this match but after the humiliating defeat, they slipped to the 5th position and South Africa reached on top. Shan Masood-led Pakistan remained in the second position but they might lose this to Australia after the ongoing Boxing Day Test in MCG.
South Africa won the toss and choose to bowl first. India scored 249 in the first inning with KL Rahul’s century. Virat Kohli contributed 38 runs. 6 Indian players were unable to reach double digits. Proteas speed star Kagiso Rabada demolished the Indian batting line-up as he took a fifer in the 1st inning.

South Africa scored 408 runs in the first inning. Man of the match Dean Algar made fantastic 185 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets but it was too late for India to return in the match. They bundled Men in Blue on just 131 runs in the 2nd inning and won the match by a huge margin. Nandre Burger who was bought by Rajasthan Royals at 50 lakhs in IPL 2024 auction took 4 wickets in the 2nd inning.
The second and last match of the series will be played from 3 January to 7 in Capetown.
