IND vs AUS 3rd Test Day 4 Highlights: India Avoid Follow-On Amidst Rain Interruption: The third Test, day 4, between India vs Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane, where the Indian team stood to show resilience and endurance. Battling it out against a disciplined Australian bowling attack and with incessant covers being blown by the weather. India avoided the follow-on despite finishing the day at 252/9, trailing by 193 runs.

An eager final-wicket stand between Akash Deep (27*) and Jasprit Bumrah (10*) was critical for India’s effort against the follow-on. That little effort at the close of play frustrated Australia’s bowlers.

India was rather shaky when the day started, resuming at 51/4 after the rain intervened on Day 3. The team began on a very bad note. Early in the session, Rohit Sharma fell for 10 to Pat Cummins. However, KL Rahul paired with Ravindra Jadeja to form a dogged but necessary partnership that restored some measure of stability to the innings.

Rahul, having demonstrated massive patience, nicked up a hard-fought 84 before being unhinged by a sharp delivery from Nathan Lyon. Jadeja then joined in, mustering a most crucial 77, holding the middle order together until then before succumbing to Cummins.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test

On the field throughout the day was relentless Australian bowling. Led by none other than Pat Cummins, who finished the day at 4 for 80, including three of his own to complement Starc. Nathan Lyon also got a wicket within the confines of a deteriorating Gabba pitch. However, Australia incurred another unexpected setback when Hazlewood bowled just one over before leaving the field due to a calf injury. The fast bowler is to undergo scans, and his participation in the series now looks doubtful as a big blow for the hosts.

Low Order Resisting the Delays from Weather

Just as it was time for Australia to follow the last ball, the lower order of India threw themselves. Would-be debutant Akash Deep lent himself to play beyond his years—what an age, and in his support, there was Jasprit Bumrah. For over an hour, the two batted an unbeaten 39 for the tenth wicket, and again, thanks to not taking extra, assured Australia does not have any benefits.
