IND vs ENG 1st ODI: India Clinches 4-Wicket Victory, Takes 1-0 Lead: In a thrilling match played at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, India won the first One Day International (ODI) match of the series against England by four wickets. It was a big total for the home team to chase, which saw them overcome early setbacks and propel the chase towards the target.

England’s Innings in IND vs ENG 1st ODI

England won the toss and elected to bat first. Phil Salt and Ben Duckett’s explosive starts didn’t last very long; Salt made 43 off 26 balls, comprising five fours and three sixes. Duckett contributed a moderate 32 off 29 balls. But despite the early assault, following their dismissals, the team could never mount a serious threat.

Captain Jos Buttler held the middle order together with a composed 52, while Jacob Bethell provided 51 runs. England finally finished their innings in the 48th over with a total of 248 all out. On debut, Harshit Rana bowled well to bag 3 wickets for 53 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja’s stingy bowling produced 3 for 26 to contain the English batting lineup.

India’s Chase

India chased 249 runs with some diamonds but lost Jaiswal and Sharma cheaply. Shreyas Iyer was next in, throwing everything at the English bowlers with his rapid-fire 59 runs from 36 deliveries, culminating in quite a few boundaries and sixes to reignite the Indian run chase. Gill played a phenomenal role, scoring a homage of 87 to anchor the innings.

An extremely aggressive 52 from Axar Patel brought the necessary punch in the last phase. There were still a couple of hiccups, but India reached the target in finishing at 249/6 and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The second ODI is slated to take place in Pune, where India will attempt to win it, whereas England will want to rally and level the contest.
