Batting first at the behest of England captain Jos Buttler, India slammed 356 runs. Following his century, Shubman Gill (112) latched onto the innings, with brilliant co-support from Virat Kohli, who contributed a timely 52 runs to firm up the innings. Shreyas Iyer set a quick score of 78 against pace at the end to help set a fighting score for India.
England’s Response
Chasing 357, England’s batting line-up failed under pressure. Although they started quite well, the visitors faltered against disciplined spells from Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. Spinner Axar led the way with the wickets of two crucial middle-order batsmen. Pacer Arshdeep Singh supported him nicely, picking two and attaining decent economy rates. England was eventually bowled out for only 214 runs, failing to reach the target by an obvious central margin.

India stamped authority across the series, having beaten England comprehensively in all three matches. The perfect mix of experienced and up-and-coming players has worked wonders for the team’s success lately.
