IND vs ENG 3rd T20I

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, India came under an onslaught by the England batters, with Liam Livingstone leading from the front with a brisk 43 off 24 balls, featuring multiple boundaries and sixes. England also witnessed a middle-order collapse but still ended up with a decent total of 171 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. Varun Chakravarthy was the star for India with the ball, pocketing 5 wickets for 24 runs, including a hat-trick opportunity.

India’s batting collapse

In the chase for 172, India needed a decent start, but they were early into their innings when England’s spinners gave two great breakthroughs. Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer struck major blows to dismiss key Indian batsmen, and the lower-order Indian batters struggled to build up momentum, with Hardik Pandya holding one end together until the last overs. They kept losing wickets occasionally, and the required run rate soonclimbed. In the last overs, India’s lower order struggled to achieve momentum, and they fell short by another 26 runs.

This win was very much needed by England after having lost the first two matches of the five-match series, thus taking India to a 2-1 lead as things set up for an interesting fourth T20I. England’s unchanged team showed grit and determination under severe pressure.
