IND vs ENG T20 World Cup 2024 Semi-Final 2: Date, Time, Venue, Head to Head, Pitch Report, Key Players Playing XI and Squads. In the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2024, India will play against England at Providence Stadium, Guyana, on Thursday, June 27 at 08:00 PM (IST).

Up to now, India has a perfect record in the tournament. They won against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA in the group stage. However, their game against Canada was cancelled due to heavy rains. On the other hand, in the Super 8 round, the squad with Rohit Sharma as the main man countered the issues with group adversaries and; hence, they took easy wins over Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia, making it to the semifinals.

England’s journey has been much tougher. They had a no result against Scotland and lost to Australia in the group stage, so they had to win against Oman and Namibia to stay in the tournament. They did, but they still needed Australia to beat Scotland to advance. Australia won, allowing England to qualify for the Super Eights. In the Super Eights, England beat the West Indies but lost to South Africa. They then beat the USA in their final game to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Pitch Report At Providence Stadium

Providence Stadium’s pitch has a past that leads to the ball spinning and that can be the one big element that can affect a semifinal. During the previous game of Afghanistan and New Zealand, the spin bowlers made the maximum impact thus ensuring a convincing victory by the Afghan team. The positive development found in the winning of the spinners is a good sign for India, which has a strong spin bowler attack reinforced by Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Still, the English also have a shorter spinner in the shape of Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali who are more liable to take advantage of the easy conditions. The pitch’s propensity to turn would be conducive for a chess match, pitting the two to tailor their strategies to the emerging game conditions.

Key Players to Watch Out in 2nd Semi-Final

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been Rohit Sharma’s main bowler during this World Cup. However, he has fifteen wickets in the competition and has shown a nice economy rate of 4.08. To deal with England’s long batting order, Bumrah will have to turn on his best performance.

Jos Buttler

England captain Jos Buttler will need to leverage his vast T20 experience to halt India’s momentum. As an opener, he must provide England with a quick start while also managing his responsibilities as a wicketkeeper. When Buttler is in form, he is extremely difficult to stop.
