IND vs NZ 1st Test Day 1 Called Off Due To Rain at Chinnaswamy Stadium: The umpires have decided to call off the first day of the 1st Test between India vs New Zealand being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore because of heavy rain. Though earlier in the day the skies appeared to be clearing up and play may have been possible. This was not the case with the later rains that prompted. The umpires called off the day without a single ball being bowled.
The day began with expectations of improved weather conditions. Regular bouts of drizzle coupled with chilly overcast conditions meant that the outfield and pitch were still too moist to begin play. There had been heavy rains in the previous days. So the curators did not have the chance of preparing the surface well. Even in those instances after the rain had stopped, a great deal of time was unavoidable in waiting for the preparations as there was too much water to clear from the field.
The fans who were in huge numbers on that day, on purpose to get a glimpse of the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, were obviously let down. The weather forecast for the next few days also appears to be grim. Both teams would want an improvement in the weather on Day 2.
