Pant too fell for a score of 99, the seventh time now that he got dismissed in the nervous nineties. The rest of the Indian batters could not contribute much to the cause, KL Rahul perished for 12, and Jadeja and Ashwin managed to get 5 and 15, respectively.
Matt Henry and O’Rourke both secured 3 wickets each. Thus the Indian team managed to get 462 on the board, giving the Kiwis a target of a mere 107 runs.
New Zealand needs 107 runs
The start of the New Zealand innings was halted just after 4 balls due to a huge black cloud covering the sky as the umpires assessed that the light was insufficient to continue any further, calling stumps 20 minutes earlier. Rohit and Virat, however, were visibly displeased with the decision and were seen chatting with the umpires even after the rest of the players went back to the dressing room.
