IND vs NZ 1st Test Day 5 Highlights: New Zealand Won By 8 Wickets: New Zealand win the first test with 8 wickets in hand. This victory is a special one for the visitors, as they had not won a single test on Indian soil in the last 36 years; their last win in India came in the year 1988. There are other reasons as well that make this Bengaluru test a special one.
After the first day getting washed out due to rain, the Kiwis showcased their A game, bundling India for a mere 46, which is our lowest total at home ever, then posting a mammoth 402, taking a lead of massive 356.
On day 4 of the first test between India and New Zealand, we saw team India setting a target of 107 for the opposition. At one point the Indian team was looking all set for a huge score with Sarfaraz and Rishabh Pant well set and attacking at the crease, but the Kiwis bowlers were exceptional to pull things back, taking the last 6 wickets for just 54 runs.

New Zealand’s Easy Run Chase
The start of the 5th and final day of the test was delayed for an hour due to wet conditions in the outfield. After restoring the playing conditions, the day finally started, and Jasprit Bumrah was quick to send the visitor’s captain Tom Latham back to the pavilion, trapping him lbw straight in front of the wicket.

Will Young steered the ship and scored 44 runs and his partnership with Rachin Ravindra (39*) ensured a comfortable victory for the team in the first session itself. Thus, New Zealand wins the first match with 8 wickets left to take a lead of 1-0 in the three-match test series. For India, Bumrah was the only positive in the bowling line-up, picking up both wickets. They surely missed the services of a third seamer given the conditions and the wicket.
