IND vs NZ 2nd Test: Day 1 Highlights, Washington Sundar Bagged 7 Wickets: The 2nd test between India vs New Zealand is underway in Pune. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first and posted a total of 259 on the board. Washington Sundar bagged 7 wickets, giving his career-best performance, and was the star of the day.

The first match heroes Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65) were the top performers for the team yet again. Mitchell Santner also contributed 33. At one point, the Black Caps were looking good to score big with 201 for 4 wickets. They lost the last 6 wickets for just 58 runs. All the ten wickets were taken by spinners.

Ravichandran Ashwin took the first 3 wickets. The match is important for the WTC rankings; New Zealand has slipped down the ranking to the fifth position after South Africa overtook them after beating Bangladesh. India, although maintains the top spot despite losing the 1st test.

After losing the 1st test, the Indian team made 3 changes to the playing XI, as Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, and Akashdeep returned to the side in place of Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul, and Md. Siraj. For the Kiwis, Mitchell Santner replaces Matt Henry.

Trailing by 259 runs, India’s batting didn’t start as expected. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, fell for a nine-ball duck as he was dismissed by Tom Southee for a record 14th time in internationals, joint-highest with Kagiso Rabada. At stumps, Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Shubman Gill (10) were cautious to not let any more damage happen.
