IND vs NZ 3rd Test Day 1 Highlight: Jadeja, Washington Bowled Out Kiwis For 235, India 86/4 At Stumps: On the first day of the third test match between India vs New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India’s fortunes were mixed as they bundled up New Zealand’s first innings for 235 before stumps were drawn at 86 for 4. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first, with Daryl Mitchell (80) and Will Young (71) top-scoring.

Ravindra Jadeja was India’s answer to the credits that were out and finished the day with the best figures of five wickets, registering his thirteenth five-wicket haul in his career. Washington Sundar too played his part effectively, picking up 4 wickets and aiding in clearing New Zealand’s tail.

Nevertheless, it was a steep task ahead of them as India commenced their first innings. India’s top-order batsmen were in trouble right from the start, with Rohit Sharma getting out cheaply and Yashasvi Jaiswal following suit. Henry’s accuracy and lines, though tight, went a long way in slowing down the Indian run rate.

However, Kohli’s innings were brought to an end sadly with a runout for just 18. India’s growing confidence was dented as the team found themselves in a delicate position at 86 for four by the end of the innings. None of the top-order and middle-order batsmen seem to be in a position to construct a decent partnership. Shubham Gill stands at the crease for 31 runs along with Rishabh Pant.

Looking at Day 2, the Indian lower order has to face the challenge of nullifying a 149-run first-inning’s lead and therefore will be looking to prevent a series whitewash as they already trail 2-0 in the IND vs NZ series.
