India Tour of Zimbabwe: Shivam Dube Replaces Injured Nitish Reddy In T20I Squad. The BCCI announced on Wednesday that after the injury elimination of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube would be India’s 15-man squad for the tour of Zimbabwe scheduled to take place on July 6. Reddy was a new player sent for by the five-match series, but unfortunately, he had to drop out of the squad due to his ailment. Team India, captained by Shubman Gill, will go up against Zimbabwe for the five T20I series held at the Harare Sports Club from July 6 to 16.
After a successful 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season with SunRisers Hyderabad, Nitish Kumar Reddy earned a call-up to the India team. The youngster will be under the care of the BCCI doctors and the 21-year-old from Visakhapatnam will get this opportunity. However, the panel did not disclose the nature of his injury but upheld the replacement decision when the Ajit Agarkar-led senior selection committee announced the 18-member squad.
Anticipations are high for Nitish Kumar Reddy to have a great career as a fast-bowling all-rounder for India. The star player of SunRisers Hyderabad scored 303 runs in 13 matches and picked up three wickets in the IPL season. His ability to deal calmly with situations in the middle order when there’s huge pressure, combined with his continuous bowling at over 130 kph, was noticeable. Even though SunRisers were losers in the final of IPL 2024 to the Knight Riders, Nitish’s performances led to him winning the Emerging Player Award.

The selectors initially chose only Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson from India’s T20 World Cup squad for the series in Zimbabwe. But now, after Shivam Dube is a part of the 15-player team, 3 players are going to the Caribbean. Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan. On the other hand, were all the substitutes for the T20 World Cup.
